MEET OUR OPTOMETRISTS
Meet the experienced and friendly doctors who make Family Vision Center the leading provider of vision care products and services in Tucson.

Curtis Dechant, O.D.
Curtis Dechant, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University’s College of Optometry in 1997 and earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 1993.
After receiving his first pair of contact lenses when he was in the 10th grade, Dr. Dechant decided to become an optometrist. Dr. Dechant had worn glasses since the seventh grade and found that wearing contact lenses were a game changer for him, both socially and for playing sports.
In practice since 1997, Dr. Dechant’s special field of interest is contact lens fitting including specialty contact lenses for irregular corneas and orthokeratology/corneal refractive therapy for myopia control. Dr. Dechant enjoys being able to provide his patients with visual solutions that can have an immediate and positive impact in their daily lives. He particularly loves being able to offer patients the option of contact lenses, if they desire, regardless of their prescription.
In his time away from the office, Dr. Dechant enjoys spending time with his family, camping, playing golf and going mountain biking and road cycling.

Amy Fuhr-Dechant, O.D.
Amy Fuhr-Dechant, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University in 1995 and earned her Bachelor of Visual Science from South Dakota State University.
Dr. Fuhr-Dechant remembers her early experience of wearing eyeglasses as a five-year-old girl. Over time, she began to develop an interest in optometry and saw it as an opportunity for her to help people. Because so many daily activities require clear vision, Dr. Fuhr-Dechant strives to make each patient’s visit the best it can be and to provide them with their best vision possible.
In her time away from the office, Dr. Fuhr-Dechant loves spending time with her family. She also enjoys running, practicing yoga and, more recently, took up beading and sewing as new hobbies.

Jeffrey D. Horst, O.D.
Jeffrey Horst, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2009 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Iowa. He also completed his residency at the Boston VA Healthcare System’s Brockton Division.
As an eyeglass wearer himself, Dr. Horst has always had a curiousity about eye health and knows how important it is when you can’t see clearly. He enjoys being able to help others and is very intrigued by the problem-solving and analytical side of optometry. He also likes having a career where he can spend the day moving around and working with people rather than being tied to a desk.
In practice since 2009, Dr. Horst says that seeing his patients, especially children, put on a pair of glasses for the first time and realize there’s a whole new world out there is priceless. The most rewarding aspect of Dr. Horst’s day is helping patients find the right prescription and the right options, whether it’s contact lenses or glasses, that can make a huge difference in their everyday lives. He values his patients who have come back every year since 2009, and says it’s nice to have that sense of community and long-term relationships – it truly allows him to monitor and support their visual and overall health.
In his time away from the office, Dr. Horst enjoys spending time with his family, trying new restaurants, and experiencing new foods.

Anna Jones, O.D.
Anna Jones, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in 2009 and completed her undergraduate studies at Western Kentucky University. Her special fields of interest include pediatric and geriatric eye exams, and the treatment and management of ocular surface diseases, including dry eye.
Growing up, Dr. Jones became fascinated with the eye and how it works during many conversations with her family optometrist. As an adult, she realized just how important our eyesight is to perform so many life activities. Dr. Jones knew then that she wanted to learn how to help people achieve and keep their best vision and eye health for their entire lives.
In practice since 2009, Dr. Jones enjoys enhancing her patients’ quality of life through better vision and improved eye and systemic health by using today’s best technology and techniques. Dr. Jones believes there is no better feeling than bringing a smile to someone’s face because you have made their life better.
In her time away from the office, Dr. Jones loves spending time with family and friends, as well as reading, hiking, and cooking.
